Generative Misfits

This studio sought to reassess and resituate the values and priorities of the parametric project so that they engage the difficulties found in the urban and cultural realm.

If, at the architectural scale, parametric differentiation must occur through the design of the non-standard joint, then, at the urban scale, part-to-part relationships must occur between and across building types. This studio will be equal GENERATIVE MISFITS parts Grasshopper and Aldo Rossi. Two parallel tracks where developed in this studio; the development of field conditions, continuity through a unified set of parametric operations, (e.g. zoning, matrix, envelope, facades), and the identification and augmentation of intractable characters, (e.g. infrastructure, landmark, community, typology).
