This 16,000 sf addition & renovation project serves as Haverford College’s new home for its Music Department’s entire core program. It was designed to meet program requirements for regular performance, rehearsal and instruction. The 100-seat Michael Jaharis Recital Hall is the main jewel of the project that is positioned center stage to the campuses Duck Pond and luscious landscape. A new, 35 person classroom, is equipped with technology and furniture that allows for a variety of classroom configurations and lesson types tailored to the teaching style of each instructor. Additionally, a music library, quiet reading space, six individual practice rooms, 7 faculty and staff offices, and a quartet ensemble room all have a new home in the newly renovated Roberts Hall Building.
While working for WRA, Sophia was responsible for producing design studies, digital visualizations, contract drawings and administrating the construction of this building. She worked closely with the project architects at WRA, consultants, engineers and the Owner’s Project Manager to achieve complex building shape and details that not only fulfills rigorous acoustical requirements, but also serves as a daily learning space for the students.
